Usai meninjau Desa Sindangheula, Kabupaten Serang, Banten, Kamis, 14 November, Menteri Desa dan Pembangunan Daerah Tertinggal Yandri Susanto menyebutkan sebanyak 7 ribu 153 desa di Indonesia masuk kedalam desa tertinggal. Bahkan, 3 ribu desa diantaranya belum teraliri listrik.

Adapun desa tertinggal terbanyak di daerah papua, nusa tenggara timur dan sumatera utara bagian nias.

Menteri Yandri menilai, hal ini memang masih menjadi pekerjaan rumah bersama, agar desa tertinggal yang masih memiliki keterbatasan air bersih, kesehatan, pendidikan, jembatan dan sarana infrastruktur jalan belum memadai bergeser menjadi desa berkembang.

Oleh karena itu, Kemendes PDT akan terus melakukan upaya mengentaskan desa-desa tertinggal dan belum teraliri listrik dengan melakukan pemetaan ratusan desa tertinggal termasuk yang ada di Banten.
