Pelanggaran pemalsuan dokumen perizinan perikanan melibatkan praktik penggunaan dokumen palsu atau memodifikasi dokumen yang sah untuk menyembunyikan kegiatan perikanan ilegal. Modus kejahatan ini menjadi ancaman serius bagi keberlanjutan sumber daya perikanan. Kementerian Kelautan dan Perikanan bekerja sama dengan Polri telah mengusut kasus pemalsuan dokumen perizinan perikanan di Pantai Utara Jawa (Pantura) yang melibatkan sejumlah pihak. Upaya tak mudah karena pelaku sempat buron dengan berpindah-pindah lokasi dan menggunakan identitas palsu. Pelaku akhirnya berhasil ditangkap, mata rantai sindikatnya juga telah diringkus.
