Kantor Perwakilan Bank Indonesia mencatat penggunaan Quick Response Code Indonesia Standard atau QRIS di Papua sampai dengan September 2024 mencapai 10,3 juta transaksi.

Hal ini menandakan masifnya transaksi non tunai yang dilakukan masyarakat hingga ke ujung wilayah Indonesia. Meskipun saat ini penggunaan QRIS terbanyak masih dominan di pusat kota seperti Jayapura, Merauke dan Timika.

Kepala Perwakilan BI Papua Faturachman menyebutkan Papua menjadi provinsi dengan pertumbuhan QRIS yang cukup tinggi dan pesat. Hingga saat ini jumlah transaksi di Papua dengan menggunakan QRIS mencapai 1,76 triliun rupiah yang tersebar di 206 Mercan-Qris.
