Wakil Presiden Gibran Rakabuming Raka meminta Menteri Pendidikan Dasar dan Menengah Abdul Mu’ti untuk menambahkan pelajaran Coding dan Artificial Intelligence (AI) di tingkat SD hingga SMP. Dua mata pelajaran tersebut akan menjadi pilihan di beberapa sekolah, dengan mempertimbangkan kesiapan sarana dan prasarana Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi di masing-masing sekolah.

Menurut Wapres, Indonesia butuh banyak ahli Coding, ahli AI, hingga ahli machine learning untuk menuju generasi emas 2045. Selain itu, agar Indonesia tidak kalah dengan negara-negara lain, terutama India. Sebab seperti diketahui, India banyak mencetak ahli-ahli coding dan machine learning yang andal.

Wapres berharap dengan adanya penambahan dua mata pelajaran ini dapat menjawab program dari Presiden Prabowo tentang digitalisasi untuk meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan dan menyiapkan generasi muda lebih bisa bersaing di dunia global.
